The leaders of the SCO countries have signed a joint declaration following the summit. It reflects the intention to further expand the Organization and the common stance on key international and regional issues.

In particular, the paper confirmed the participants' commitment to further cooperate in the field of nuclear arms control and non-proliferation. One of the priority goals of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is countering terrorism, as stated by Vladimir Putin at the council meeting. The head of Russia stressed the importance of enhancing mutual efforts to counter the online propaganda of extremist ideas.

The President dwelt on the US-Iran relations. Putin believes that the SCO should take more steps to settle the showdown between the two countries.

Vladimir Putin: "We are concerned about the situation around the Iranian nuclear program. The US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which, let me remind you, was adopted unanimously by the UN Security Council in 2015, not only degrades the regional situation, but may also undermine the non-proliferation regime. As the SCO chairman, we'll seek that all the parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action fulfill their obligations. We think it's the only logical and right way".

Today, Vladimir Putin is having a number of bilateral and trilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit. Currently, Putin is meeting with his Mongol and Chinese counterparts. He'll also meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
