Laos: Russia Commits Demining Squad to Clear Ancient American Mines From Devastated Jungle

In Laos, Russian de-miners began clearing forests of American bombs. The bombs have been there since 1960-70, for 50 years already. 36 servicemen from the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Armed Forces are engaged. They will work there for 5 months.

In Laos, Russian de-miners began clearing forests of American bombs. The bombs have been there since 1960-70, for 50 years already. 36 servicemen from the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Armed Forces are engaged. They will work there for 5 months.

 

The servicemen will have to clear the territory of more than 250 acres. There are five villages located in the de-mining area. The work is very dangerous. Many shells have never exploded and are in the ground, at a depth of up to 8.2 feet.
