ARE THEY RIGHT? 2/3 Russians Believe the West Is Bent on Annihilation of Russia

The findings of the latest poll conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center were published under the headline: "The Theory of Conspiracy against Russia." The findings of the latest poll conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center were published under the headline: "The Theory of Conspiracy against Russia." The subline explains: The majority of Russians believe there's a group of people who are trying to destroy the traditional values of the Russian people and rewrite the history. According to the ARPORC, the majority is 66% of the pollees. On top of that, there are even more of them in the 45-60 age group — 72%. The phone-poll uncovered that the Russians are sure: a secret society or something like that is trying to replace the historical facts in order to harm Russia and diminish its greatness. That's the reason why they're promoting non-traditional sexual relationships. We're dealing with a global conspiracy, no less. At first, it sounds like a supermarket-tabloid kind of conspiracy. But maybe it's not that simple?

Georgy Podgorny with the details.

- It's hard to imagine that 2/3 of the population suddenly had a paranoid episode.

- We asked the experts one simple question: have our people gone mad or do they possess the true knowledge?

One can't ignore the invisible hand of the information field anymore. Many were surprised by the findings of the poll. However, the social scientists weren't.

Oleg Chernozub, RANEPA: "An average Russian is not a simpleton as it might seem to an unprepared observer. People rationally realize that there are a lot of discreetly working organizations starting with special services and criminal groups. Recently, several secret organizations like the Italian P2 masonic lodge the NATO Gladio, and some others were exposed".

We've all witnessed the coordinated aggressive information attacks: Skripals case as a ground for new sanctions Rodchenkov's false accusations that triggered a drug-scandal and the common stereotype of the Russian hackers. The attacks begin as if someone gave an order. And then suddenly end as if the operation was over. Those examples are pretty obvious. Why organize an underground propaganda campaign of homosexuality and how can it promote the Western ideas?

Ruslan Ostashko, editor-in-chief of PolitRussia.com: "Homosexuality is one of key topics when it comes to promoting the Western lifestyle. The West points out that the Russian people are afraid to come out of the closet. They say it's because of our intolerant society and our dictator government. It's one of the markers that they'll use to prove that we're some kind of sub-humans".

According to the experts, the most widespread way of promoting one's agenda is grant financing with the help of non-profit organizations. The trend's been decreasing since the mandatory registration law for the politically-focused institutions. However, last year, non-profit organizations received more than $100 million from abroad and more than $1,300 million over the last three years. A part of this impressive sum was allocated for the culture projects. But what's the ultimate goal?

Ilya Chukalin, Presidential Grant Fund CEO: "The history's been rewritten in order to influence the decision-making process of the people of some international organization or state. They're trying to change our history through various financial methods. They can announce certainly themed competitions with a pre-set agenda that dictates the way of dealing with the subject".

Back to the figures. 2/3 of Russians are sure that the West is enforcing its values from abroad but how do we assess the scale of the catastrophe and whether their ideologists are successful?

Dmitry Solonnikov, Institute of Modern Government Development: "They aren't successful if people notice the patterns. Suddenly we discover that Ukraine is an ancient superpower that dug out the Black Sea and defeated Alexander the Great. If a person perceives such news as authentic you can say that the ideologists have been successful. It's a brainwashing type of propaganda. As soon as people notice they're being worked on they slam the brakes and start filtering the information realizing that they're being changed on purpose."

2000 Russians aged 18 or more took part in the poll. In this case, the probability of error is extremely small, about 2%. The ARPORC poll revealed another interesting fact that's not so obvious. Russians are capable of making sense of any information distinguishing between the important analytics and the so-called fake news.
