Running for Their Lives - 30,000 Civilians Flee East Ghouta Siege Through Russian Humanitarian Corridor

Almost 30,000 refugees have fled today from East Ghouta through the humanitarian corridor. This was reported by Sergey Rudskoy, chief of the Operations Control General Headquarters. According to him, the evacuation is being held with the UN and international observers on site. All the evacuation operations and humanitarian aid deliveries are being carried out by the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, together with the Syrian authorities.

Sergey Rudskoy, Chief of Operations Control General Headquarters: "Right now you can witness a humanitarian operation unique in its scale. Only since this morning, 27,610 civilians have exited through the humanitarian corridor. And there are 44,639 civilians evacuated from the East Ghouta in total. In the humanitarian corridors' deployment locations, necessary infrastructure for the admission and transportation of the refugees has been created. Meal and first aid stations were set up with the involvement of the Russian servicemen".

The chief spokesman for the Ministry of Defence, Igor Konashenkov talked about the atrocities by the militants in the East Ghouta.

Igor Konashenkov, the chief spokesman for the Ministry of Defence: "There are hundreds of recorded accounts by the evacuated citizens, who avidly speak in front of cameras and journalists, including the Western ones, about the atrocities by the militants. The witnesses report where the humanitarian aid, including the aid from international organizations, went Everything was taken by the militants. Nothing was given to the civilians. For a slice of bread, the militants forced them to join their ranks and fight against the Syrian Armed Forces. Those representatives of Western countries, who are trying to frame the militants as moderate opposition, should understand that they are becoming accomplices in serious humanitarian crimes along with the militants".

Igor Konashenkov also spoke about the situation in Raqqa and Aleppo. According to him, in Raqqa, liberated by the forces of the western coalition, is undergoing a difficult humanitarian situation. In Aleppo, taken by the Syrian Armed Forces backed by the Russian Aerospace Forces, the situation is stabilizing in contrast.

Igor Konashenkov: "Aleppo, liberated from the militants over a year ago, is successfully rebuilding. Markets, social institutions, schools, hospitals are working. More than 800,000 Syrians came back to their homes in Aleppo, and are living a peaceful life. And what can be said about Raqqa, liberated by the American coalition? The city's in ruins, there is no water or electricity. The social and medical institutions are not working, or are destroyed as a result of bombing by the coalition's air forces. But the most terrible thing today in Raqqa is that as the air temperature rises, the bodies under debris rot. This all seeps into the soil and the water-bearing beds. So the epidemiological situation in the city is not just grave, but catastrophic. But both international humanitarian organizations, and the American coalition members, who destroyed the city, completely ignore it".
