LANDSLIDE: the Russian Public Opinion Research Center Thinks They Know Who Will Win the Election

The Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) has released the results of the survey about the upcoming presidential election.

The Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) has released the results of the survey about the upcoming presidential election. The data show that if the elections were held this Sunday, Vladimir Putin would secure the absolute majority of votes. More than 81% of the voters are ready to vote for the incumbent President.

Pavel Grudinin, the CPRF candidate, would take the second place, scoring 7.6%.

 

The LDPR candidate Vladimir Zhirinovsky would take the third place. A bit more than 4% of the Russians would vote for him.

They are followed by Ksenia Sobchak, Grigory Yavlinsky and Boris Titov.

Valery Fedorov, head of VTsIOM: "57% of the respondents claim that they will certainly cast the ballot. There's a group of people that are likely to vote, they are 11%. 3% say they are unlikely to vote. Other 3% say they certainly won't vote. 1% couldn't give a definite answer. 15% haven't decided yet. They are planning to make up their mind closer to the election".

The data is based on a poll VTsIOM — Sputnik. The respondents were the Russians over 18 years old who are planning to vote on March 18. It was a landline and cell survey.

The total number of respondents is 3,000. The margin of error of the study is less than 1.8%.
