PLO Refuses to Play Ball: Does Not Plan on Recognizing Israel as State Anytime Soon

The Palestine Liberation Organization is planning to suspend the recognition of Israel as a state. A member of its Central Council reported the news at an emergency meeting.

The Palestine Liberation Organization is planning to suspend the recognition of Israel as a state. A member of its Central Council reported the news at an emergency meeting.

Salim Zanoun, Chairman of the PLO Central Council: "We urge the Executive Committee of the PLO to suspend the recognition of Israel until it recognizes the State of Palestinian within its 1967 borders, rescinds the annexation of East Jerusalem, and stops settlement building. The Committee will reconsider all forms of coordination with Israel".

 

Israel considers Jerusalem its capital but all embassies are located in Tel-Aviv. In late 2017, the US promised to move its embassy to Jerusalem and urged their allies to do the same thing.

For now, the only country that followed Washington was Guatemala.
