Kiselyov Reports: Russian Engineers Pioneer Innovative Solution to Terrorist Drone Attacks

This week, Russian Defence Ministry revealed details of the attack on the Russian airbase Khmeymim, which happened on the night of January 5th.

No, this is not a political decision of the White House or Congress. This is uncontrolled US generals in the expanses of Syria, who are looking for new adventures.

This week, Russian Defence Ministry revealed details of the attack on the Russian airbase Khmeymim, which happened on the night of January 5th. It was an aerial armada of 13 drones. Each carried 10 explosive devices. None managed to damage our airbase. Seven were shot down by Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile systems. 3 crashed and exploded. But 3 more were intercepted by electronic warfare waves and forced to land, undamaged. Now they're being examined by Russian specialists.

They appear to be made from plywood, and coarsely wrapped with green tape, it's only at a first glance that they seem to be primitive and home-made, like from a children's model aircraft club. However, the aerodynamic design and technical internals are not so simple.

Russian Ministry of Defence made a clear statement: "Engineering solutions used by terrorists in the attack on Russian facilities in Syria could only be obtained from one of the countries that has the technological capability to provide satellite navigation and remote control for dropping the professionally assembled improvised explosive devices over the assigned locations".

Can you take a guess which country this can be? But it responded by itself to the Russian Defence Ministry's statement. Pentagon spokesman, Adrian Rankine-Galloway said that the technologies used to manufacture these drones "can easily be obtained in the open market." If drones from the "open market" can now fly and bomb anyone they please, from US military bases in Syria to objects on the territory of the US itself. And what? Terrorists can buy everything on the market now. Without outside help. And technology in the hands of a savage is no longer dead. It's the market, you know. And take a note, it wasn't us who said this.

Russian experts have already determined that before the attack on the Russian base, the drones flew more than 50 km, starting from Idlib, in the southwestern part of the de-escalation zone. It was to Idlib that buses brought militants, who, at the time, were kicked out of Aleppo. Now they have been repainted as the "moderate opposition." Turkey is responsible for these territories under the joint agreements.

Putin, however, is not mad at Turkey. On Thursday in a telephone conversation with Erdogan, this was a separate topic. President Vladimir Putin shared the details at a meeting with the heads of Russian media on the occasion of the Day of the Russian Press. The editorial board of the "Komsomolskaya Pravda" hosted the event.

Vladimir Putin: "I am sure that neither the Turkish military, nor the Turkish leadership, nor the Turkish state, had anything to do with this incident. While Turkey should control this part of the Idlib zone. But it needs to be said, that we can't always manage to control what we should control there. And our Turkish partners are not always able to do this either, it's a complicated situation there: there were provocateurs, but not Turks, and we know who they are, we know how much and to whom they paid for this provocation.

As for these incidents, there's nothing good there. This is also a provocation aimed at disrupting the agreements reached earlier. The first and the second goal is, of course, our relations with partners, both with Turkey and with Iran. This is also an attempt to destroy these relations. We're well aware of this and therefore we will act with solidarity".
